Thunderbolt! Here is the "Lockheed Lightning," also known as the P-38 Interceptor-Pursuit, said by experts to be world's fastest airplane. The plane is in production at the Burbank, California, plant of the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation for the U.S. Army Air Corps and England's RAF (Royal Air Force). The unconventional design of this plane represents a revolutionary step in aircraft manufacture. The "Lightning" embodies every known modern principle of aerodynamics, that is, it is the latest word in streamlining.
